Kuchinskaya Aimed At 2012 Sweet Embrace Stakes

March 7th, 2012

Gai Waterhouse is looking to run her promising two-year-old Kuchinskaya in the 2012 Sweet Embrace Stakes.

The Group 3 Sweet Embrace Stakes is due to take place at Royal Randwick Racecourse on Saturday March 17, 2012.

The race will be run under set-weight conditions and over a distance of 1,200 metres.

The 2012 Sweet Embrace Stakes is open to two-year-old fillies only and is worth a total of $125,000 in prize money.

Kuchinskaya has won one of her three race starts and has earned more than $56,000 in prize money.

The Red Dazzler filly won her last start in a $70,000 handicap at Rosehill on February 11, 2012.

Waterhouse has opted not to run her other promising two-year-olds Driefontein and No Looking Back in the 2012 Sweet Embrace Stakes, instead resting them before their 2012 Golden Slipper Stakes run next month.

“I’ll probably run Kuchinskaya in the Sweet Embrace Stakes or Reisling Stakes,” Waterhouse said.

“I doubt I’ll run Driefontein and No Looking Back again before the Golden Slipper.

“They are already qualified so I might just give them a barrier trial.”

Waterhouse won the Sweet Embrace Stakes last year with Shared Reflections, who went on to finish sixth in the Golden Slipper and place fourth in the Group 1 Sire Produce Stakes.
