Final Field For The Sweet Embrace Stakes

March 10th, 2010

Starting at just after 5.30pm, the Group 3 Sweet Embrace Stakes (1200m) will be the fifth of eight races held at the Royal Randwick Racecourse on Saturday.

Forming part of the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival’s prestigious Randwick Guineas Day, the Group 3 race has prize money of $125,000 on offer, which will be fought over by 11 two-year-old fillies who will start the race.

La Remlap, trained by Warwick Hailes drew the inside barrier, and could be a strong contender. The filly recently won a 1,100 metre race at the Canterbury Racecourse, starting from the fifth barrier, so the inside advantage may well push the filly even further as a favourite.

La Remlap, trained by Warwick Hailes drew the inside barrier, and could be a strong contender.

Crimson Ribbon will start from the outside barrier, and as the filly has not had any particularly successful runs this year, will need to cut across the field early to see a slice of the prize money in the Sweet Embrace Stakes.

Illustrious trainer Gai Waterhouse has two starters for Saturday’s race in Zutara and My Amelia who drew the sixth and seventh barriers respectively. Zutara finished third in the Group 2 Silver Slipper Stakes (1100m) and My Amelia has won all of her last three starts, making them both strong contenders.

Also racing on Saturday at the Royal Randwick Racecourse will be the Group 1 Randwick Guineas (1600m), the Group 2 Challenge Stakes (1000m), the Group 3 Randwick City Stakes (2000m) and the Group 3 Skyline Stakes (1200m).
