This Saturday the Royal Randwick Guineas Day will take place, and the Royal Randwick Racecourse will be host to the proceedings, as we see the Group 3 Sweet Embrace Stakes (1200m) take place.
With eight races taking place, the Sweet Embrace Stakes will see two-year-old fillies compete for a share in the $125,000 prize money, over 1,200 metres.
There are 16 nominations for the Sweet Embrace Stakes, which will be the fourth race of the day, and Gai Waterhouse has four of them.
There are 16 nominations for the Sweet Embrace Stakes, which will be the fourth race of the day.
My Amelia has won her last three starts, however none have been over the 1,200 metre distance, while Polska has won two of her last three starts – and will most likely be Waterhouse’s stronger competitors.
One name which stands out on the nomination list is Crystal Lily. A certain favourite for the Sweet Embrace Stakes, the filly won the Chairman’s Stakes (1100m) in February, and could perform well again on Saturday.
Second in the Group 2 Silver Slipper Stakes (1100m) was Ambers Waltz, and the filly could certainly be a strong contender for the Sweet Embrace Stakes, if she starts.
Also taking place on Saturday at the Royal Randwick Racecourse will be the Group 1 Royal Randwick Guineas (1600m), Group 2 Challenge Stakes (1000m), Group 2 Skyline Stakes (1200m) and the Group 2 Randwick City Stakes.
